The day I bought an Air Fryer the very first thing I made was garlic parmesan chicken wings (the second was french fries!). Let me tell you, my husband could not have been happier. After that, I started making everything in there.
If you are thinking about getting one, check out this post: Should You Buy An Air Fryer (A Review).
It's hard to get perfectly crispy and juicy wings from standing over a hot pot while getting splattered with oil. More to the point, who wants to when you could pop your wings in an Air Fryer?
I don't know about you, but I try to stay away from food fried in oil. (There are exceptions of course!) So making these wings in the air fryer is such a great alternative. I'd argue with anyone that they are even better this way!
This air fryer chicken wings recipe is perfect for those lazy Sunday afternoons when football has been on all day, and most likely will be on until bedtime. When you're ready for the first cold beer of the day and you're starting to get hungry but don't want to spend a bunch of time in the kitchen.
Bam! Toss some wings with some seasoning and throw them in the air fryer. You will get incredibly crispy and juicy wings. The next step is to toss them with your favorite sauce, or heck, just leave 'em plain and dip away. Whatever you do, don't forget to pull out your jar of homemade ranch dressing!
Ingredients
You probably already have the ingredients for the air fryer wings in your kitchen. Let's take a look, shall we?
- Chicken wings: Make sure to buy the frozen drummettes from the store. I made the mistake of buying drumsticks the first time I made these and they were huge!
- Baking powder: Baking powder is used to dry out the wings and help make the skin nice and crispy.
- Salt and pepper: For a little flavor.
- Garlic powder: This adds just a little more garlic flavor.
- Onion powder: Onion powder help round out the flavors a bit.
- Grated garlic: Grated garlic is important for a full garlic flavor.
- Lemon zest: I like adding some lemon zest for a zing.
- Grated parmesan: I like to buy a block of parmesan and grate it whenever I need it. The flavor is so much fresher when you do this. (Trust me, I've done lots of taste tests of parmesan cheese! 😉)

Air fry chicken wing sauce ideas
There are so many options for air fryer chicken wing sauces, it's hard to narrow it down. I'll give a few of my favorites.
- Parmesan Garlic (recipe below)
- Frank's Hot sauce (with butter!)
- Mambo sauce
- Hot Honey (I put this on my pizza too!)
- Honey BBQ
- Asian Zing
Tools I use
- I use the Instant Pot Vortex Air Fryer and I LOVE this one because you can use trays to cook food and it has a rotisserie feature! Before this, I had the GoWise Air Fryer and it worked great but the basket began to fall apart after about a year.
- I love using an extra-large bamboo cutting board.
- I have The Pioneer Woman knife set and I love it! You'll probably see those knives in my photos!
- A large mixing bowl.
- I have this zester for smaller things like garlic cloves and this grater one for lemons and cheese.
If you try it out, let me know how it goes in the comments or on Instagram, Facebook, or Pinterest.

McKenzie
I found this recipe on Pinterest and made the wings for Super Bowl Sunday... not only were they the hit of the party, everyone was SHOCKED that they didn't involve traditional frying. They are healthy AND delicious! Crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside! I will definitely make again 🙂
I didn't try the Parmesan garlic seasoning suggested but after trying the wings, I will definitely try next time!
Lindsey
I'm so glad they were a hit McKenzie! Let me know if you try anything else!
Esteban
The wings come out crispy and full of flavor. Clean up is easy. We've made this recipe several times now. I don't even want to go out for wings anymore!

I'm so glad to hear that Esteban!
