These BBQ ribs are baked in the oven and then finished on the grill. They are so tender and flavorful that the bones literally fall right out!
I used to think making ribs was a daunting process that should be left to the real professionals and enthusiasts out there. I just couldn’t imagine making fork-tender, mouth-watering ribs without more effort than it was worth. These BBQ pork ribs are so simple and easy to make, it’s a bit silly how long I waited to try!
They are baked in the oven, but because it’s such a low temperature, there isn't any extra heat in the house on these hot summer days.
This fall-off-the-bone BBQ ribs recipe starts by coating them with rub, then they go in the oven low and slow for 4 hours. They are finished off on the grill with a swipe of barbecue sauce for that perfect grilled flavor.
Ingredients
There are only 3 ingredients for this recipe and it turns out perfect every time.
- 1 or 2 racks of pork ribs: I generally only need one rack for my family but this works just as well with 2 racks.
- Dry rub: I like using Rudy's or Elway's rub but you can make your own or buy some from the store.
- BBQ sauce: You can make this at home as well, but I like Rudy's again here.
BBQ Ribs Recipe
- Unwrap the ribs and cover with your chosen rub. The more in advance that you do this, the more flavorful the ribs.
- Wrap them in aluminum foil and allow them to come to room temperature.
- Heat the oven to 225° F and put the ribs in for 4 hours.
- Remove the ribs from the oven, unwrap carefully, and brush with the BBQ sauce.
- Heat up the grill and place the ribs on the rack for a few minutes on each side. Be careful during this step since the ribs will be very tender and will fall apart easily. You only need to grill them until they are scorched on each side and the sauce has carmelized.
- Enjoy with a side of my favorite skillet cornbread (make this while you're grilling the ribs).

- What goes with BBQ ribs? I love eating ribs with cornbread. They just seem to go together. If you don't have any buttermilk for the cornbread recipe, it's super easy to make some. For dessert, whip up an Apple Pie in the morning or the day before.
